New Book Release
New book from William D. Cohan, the definitive account of Leon Black and Apollo Global Management, to be published by Portfolio Books in September 2026.
NEW YORK, NY— William D. Cohan, veteran Wall Street journalist and bestselling author of Power Failure and House of Cards, is set to publish Money to Burn: The Unvarnished Truth About Leon Black, Apollo, and the Rise of a New Wall Street on September 8, 2026 with Portfolio Books, an imprint of Penguin Publishing Group.
Adrian Zackheim acquired world rights from Joy Harris at The Joy Harris Literary Agency, Inc.
The book is a deeply reported account of Apollo Global Management with unparalleled access to controversial co-founder Leon Black.
The book traces Apollo’s rise as a pioneer in the world of private equity and private credit. At the center is Black, a financial genius and aggressive dealmaker whose strategies generated enormous returns, extreme personal wealth, and redefined Wall Street’s appetite for risk.
Cohan draws on Black’s first-hand account to draw back the curtain on his career and life, including his financier father’s suicide, his trip to Russia with President Trump, and his own account of the relationship with Jeffrey Epstein (who he paid $158 million) that eventually forced him to resign as CEO.
Black is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on May 13, 2026 regarding his financial ties to Epstein.
Portfolio Publisher Adrian Zackheim commented, “Bill Cohan is uniquely qualified, not only to unravel the complex story of Apollo, but to penetrate the smokescreen that surrounds the tragic destiny of Leon Black and his unsavory association with Jeffrey Epstein.”
With exclusive access to Apollo insiders, Money to Burn is an epic saga of financial excess, jealous rivalries, and public disgrace.
